Spring’s green grass and blooming flowers always remind us how important it is to take care of our planet. This includes making our businesses eco-friendly too, so we wanted to share some quick, easy ways you can make sure your office is doing its part to save the environment every day of the year.

  1. Launch a recycling program. Set up bins around the office for various recyclable materials. Clearly label and color-code each bin, and post signs with examples of items that can be recycled near each.
  1. Switch to LED or CFL light bulbs. While these eco-friendly light bulbs can be a bit pricier than traditional incandescent bulbs, they last significantly longer and use much less energy.
  1. Turn off electronics at the end of the day. Don’t just put your monitor to sleep. Instead, fully shut down computers, printers and the like before you sign off for the evening.
  1. Reduce use of harmful chemicals. Many cleaning products contain some traces of hazardous chemicals that can cause pollution in the air and water. Switch to more natural, biodegradable products to reduce the introduction of these substances into the environment.
  1. Eliminate plastic bottles. Plastic garbage is a huge source of pollution. In fact, Americans generate 5 million tons of plastic waste a year, but recycle only 1-2% of it. Enact a no disposable plastic bottle policy, and take it a step further by ordering branded reusable cups for the whole team!
