It’s National Volunteer Week, which means it’s the perfect time for businesses to get out in their communities and give back. Whether you venture out on your own, or you get the whole company to participate, here are some fun ways to help out this week and throughout the year ahead:

  • Host an “ERA MDA Summer Camp Challenge” Fundraiser: National Volunteer Week is the perfect time to host a fundraiser in support of ERA’s latest charitable initiative, the “ERA MDA Summer Camp Challenge.” Every dollar received will be sent directly to your local MDA chapter and used to send a child with Muscular Dystrophy to the MDA Summer Camp in your local community or state. Golf tournaments, wine tastings and bake sales are some simple ways you could help to make a big impact!
  • Volunteer at a Soup Kitchen: Helping those who need you most is an extremely rewarding experience. Stopping by the local soup kitchen to help serve hot meals is a great way to give back, and allows you to engage directly with members of your community.
  • Visit a Youth/Community Center: Dedicating a few hours of your time at a local youth center is a great way to positively influence the life of a child. Whether you’re helping to complete homework or playing a quick game of pick-up basketball, you’re sure to make a lasting impact on the kids in your community.
  • Organize a Canned-Food Drive: Food banks are always online casino looking for donations and National Volunteer Week is a great time to help out. Set up a donation box in your office and spread the word with flyers around town that you are accepting non-perishable products on behalf of a local food bank.
  • Support the Elderly: Most nursing homes rely on the support of volunteer workers for their various crafting and entertainment activities. Stop by the elderly facilities in your area to host a social hour with bingo or just to sit one on one with a resident for a great conversation – they will certainly be grateful!

We all have a shared responsibility to give back, improve and actively participate in our communities. National Volunteer Week serves as a great reminder that if we all take a little time out of our busy lives to work together, we can make a big difference!
