Today is National Tourism Day! To celebrate, we sat down with Reliant Realty ERA Powered’s Broker/Owner Casey Brown to learn what it’s like running a brokerage in the heart of downtown Nashville, TN.

  • What is it like to be a real estate professional living and working in a hot tourist destination such as Nashville?
    • Casey: You simply couldn’t ask for much more. The city is uniquely positioned for growth, which is what enticed me to relocate here nearly 15 years ago. Nashville has low property taxes and no personal income tax – factors that attract a large number of potential homebuyers each year. And when the work day is through, it’s a fun city to kick back and relax in.
  • Do you often have people in town for a visit request to check out listings?
    • Casey: Not always while they are in town for a visit per se, but we do often have clients who are moving to the area from out of town. These clients are easily identified because they usually want to see as many homes as possible in the shortest time, usually in one day or weekend, before they have to head home.
  • What’s the number one reason people relocate to Nashville?
    • Casey: There are limitless combinations of qualities that make our region such a popular place to live. The favorable taxes are high on everyone’s list, especially those relocating from the coasts and other areas where taxes are relatively high. Additionally, many people are persuaded by the nice weather while others are drawn to the unique charm of a city so rich in history.
  • What, if any, is the biggest challenge you face running a brokerage located in downtown Nashville?
    • Casey: One of our only challenges right now is keeping up with demand. We have more people interested in buying than lots readily available for purchase, which isn’t necessarily a good problem to have!
  • What do you think makes people want to make this popular vacation destination their permanent residence?
    • Casey: Beyond the dollars and cents, I think the collection of famous artists and actors plays a role. It’s not uncommon to bump into any number of top tier celebrities here, and there are always concerts and events to attend. Some people come just to see a place they’ve heard of and seen on TV, while others simply fall in love with the city like so many before them.
