You’ve probably heard the buzz about Pinterest – how it’s the new, hot social platform and everyone is using it. We’ve talked about how buyers and sellers can use Pinterest. There are many resources talking about how to use Pinterest for business (here and here) – but I’ve yet to find any that focus on real estate.

So, how can you use Pinterest in your real estate business? Here are a few ways:

With your buyers.
Pinterest boards can help you talk with buyers about what they really want in a home. Creating and reviewing the following types of boards with them gives you a chance to help them be realistic – about your market or about their own finances. And this is your chance to get a feel for what they really want in a home. Create boards that highlight the following:

  • Neighborhoods – Dedicate a separate board to each neighborhood or development you service. Feature local parks, great places to eat, nightlife or family destinations nearby and a link to the local municipal website.
  • Home styles – Feature the types of homes you generally work with. These wouldn’t necessarily be homes you have listed, rather these are the types of choices your buyers would have available to them in your area.
  • Home features – Create a board for each room of the house – kitchen, bathroom, mudroom, etc. And be sure to find photos or other pins that realistically portray the types of amenities that they can find in the homes nearby.

With your sellers.
Pinterest is a great place to curate content that you want every seller to know. Create boards on the following topics to share with your sellers. Find good articles online or within Pinterest.

  • Cleaning tips – Pinterest is full of tips and tricks for those hard to clean or often ignored corners of the home. And getting a home clean makes it easier to sell.
  • Home staging tips – Give your sellers the info they need to get their home in tip top shape.
  • Open house tips – Help your sellers prepare for a successful open house.

For self-promotion.
Pinterest is a great way to show your customers the kinds of insight and resources you bring to the table. It is also a place for you to showcase your real estate knowledge and your personality, to help you connect with clients.

  • Real estate need-to-knows – Keep a board that is up-to-date with current info about mortgages, the market in your area and real estate calculators.
  • Real estate news – Feature a new piece of local and relevant national news every week or two.
  • Your interests – Don’t forget to have some fun and show your personality on Pinterest. Start a few boards that align with your interests – fashion, DIY, cars, sports, etc.

And! Be sure to add relevant descriptions and information to each board, so that anyone looking for real estate information can find you.
