As real estate professionals, networking is an essential element of our professional development and client base growth. This is true for new and seasoned professionals alike, and it’s a skill that takes commitment to improve. To get you started, we’re sharing a few networking tips from a recent Entrepreneur.com article that we found helpful:

  • Be a good listener. When trying to make personal connections, it’s easy to slip into talking too much in an effort to find common ground. However, you will get much further by actively listening to people to understand their background and goals.
  • Follow up. This piece is crucial – meeting someone is only the beginning of the networking process, so follow up in a timely manner after your initial conversation. Even if there aren’t specific next steps to how you can help each other out, send a quick note to let them know you enjoyed your conversation.
  • Be sincere and authentic. Listening and following up aren’t enough if you’re not authentic. Insincerity shows through, so be yourself and you’ll develop relationships that are long-lasting and mutually beneficial.
