Now that the craziness of a new year has settled down, it’s a great time to reinvigorate company morale. Why not make resolutions for your place of work along with the personal resolutions you made in January? Here are a few to get you started.

Resolve to…make your company culture “hackable.”  Making people feel they are a part of the decision process is a great way to boost morale. Try creating “hacks” on company culture on a trial basis. Invite your team to provide suggestions for new programs to add, policies to try or change – even if they might be out-of-the-box. Pick a few each quarter, setting the expectation that they will be for trial, and then evaluate them as a team at the end of the quarter: should we keep this, change it, or toss it?

Resolve to…create and sustain programs that your people care about. From supporting local charities to celebrating personal milestones to a simple after-work gathering, spending time together as a team strengthens personal and professional relationships. Consider a monthly or bi-monthly event that is dedicated to enhancing positive culture. Don’t forget to post photos after the events – both on your company Facebook page, and on boards around the office. It’s a great low-cost way to remind people about all the fun they’ve been having lately.

Resolve to…keep people wanting to come to work in the morning. Though it may seem obvious, making sure the office is an enjoyable place to work is something that can get overlooked with other business priorities. Live by example and regularly celebrate employees with providing small doses of kindness. Try enacting a “Fun Friday” activity, or a “Teaching Tuesday,” where employees teach each other something they are passionate about outside of work. Happiness is contagious, so by setting it in motion, it will help others in your office to pass it along.
