As a realtor, finding target markets can prove to be a challenge, especially when you don’t have a ton of money to spend on finding leads. Fortunately, social media sites provide you with a cost-effective way to find potential clients.

Here are some great tips on using social media sites to reach real estate target markets:

  • Browse Twitter. This site makes it easy to find potential clients in a certain area. All you have to do is search “moving” along with the city or town that your market is in. Reach out to Twitter users who have tweeted that they’re going to be moving by introducing yourself and offering your real estate services.
  • Use Pinterest. Set up your own Pinterest account, then create a real estate-themed board for your area. Post images of homes that are for sale, which is a good way to reach a big audience for your listings. You can even post videos of available homes to provide more info for potential buyers. Consider making boards for other aspects of home buying and selling as well, such as new home construction or remodeling projects that boost home values.
  • Search Zillow. Look for properties that are listed as “for sale by owner,” or FSBO, and contact those sellers. You’ll need to convince them that they should work with a realtor to sell their home instead of going it alone. Zillow also has a “Make Me Move” section where you can find sellers, although you have to check first and make sure their properties haven’t been listed with another realtor.
