ERA Buyers & Sellers is the brokerage with the largest staff in El Paso, Texas, both overall and per agent count. Managing so many agents and support staff members can be a daunting task, so broker-owner Doug Van Nortwick and his leadership team have come up with a business approach that keeps both senior and junior team members content and in sync. Here are some examples of how he successfully does so:

  • The brokerage has established a Professional Advisory Council to more easily address the needs and concerns of ERA Buyers & Sellers team members.  The council serves as a way for management to engage with agents and support staff to determine the best way it can offer its assistance, and is made up of professionals with all different levels of experience.

  • Every Monday at noon, a member of the leadership team hosts an agent collaboration event for the brokerage. According to Doug, you can find anywhere between five and 15 staff members in these “open-door” meetings, which offer agents and support staff the opportunity to gather in smaller groups to discuss and drive home the culture of the company.

  • Doug makes it a point to meet with every ERA Buyers & Sellers agent once a quarter to go over their goals and progress. He takes this opportunity to help his staff overcome hurdles and establish and move towards achieving their individual business objectives.
