We talk a lot about social media here on Owning the Fence, but that’s because it is vitally important to connecting with today’s homeowners – particularly millennials. As we all think about our plans for 2017, REALTOR Magazine shared three social media trends real estate professionals should consider mastering.

One trend stood out to us as having the most immediate potential: live video. Whether using Periscope, Facebook Live or another video service, streaming live is an opportunity to reach potential clients in an authentic and somewhat candid manner. You can use it at open houses, when announcing a brand new listing, or when exploring an up-and-coming neighborhood.

Don’t abandon non-live video streaming channels like YouTube and Instagram videos, as those allow you to create content that is easily shared and archived, but you should definitely experiment with these new, innovative tools as well. Read about other trends to keep on your radar – though they may not be feasible at the moment – here.

Are you using live videos to connect with your networks already? Which platforms have been best received by your clients? Tell us in the comments below!
